Social media dinosaur inches forward

When it comes to social media I'm well aware that I'm about five years behind everybody else - all the hip young gunslingers have moved onto something else by the time I catch up. But indulge me please, it would make me happy!  When I got together with some fellow stitchers last week to watch the first episode of The Great British Sewing Bee, I was the only one not Tweeting throughout the show. The others mercilessly bullied gently encouraged me to set up a Twitter account, which I promptly did, and I'm now delighted to have joined the 21st century. My Twitter name is @Janehandmade and you can follow me here.

But wait, that's not all, I've also set up a Facebook page for my blog!!! So if Facebook's your thing, you can find all my blog posts plus any other sewing snippets that take my fancy by liking me here. You'll also find beautiful new Facebook and Twitter buttons in the right hand column of my blog.

Right, that's it for now, join me for an update in five years time, who knows, I'll probably have an Instagram account by then!  x

  1. Congrats!! I am 24 and probably part of the "social media generation". Yet, I am always super reluctant when it comes to joining any of these pages. I have a facebook page (and was bullied into signing up with Pinterest). I feel like I should get a Twitter, but I don't know if I can handle that right now :D

  2. Very funny! I love trying all these things but if they don't make my life better or are too controlling like facebook I tend to wander off and lose interest. I know the cognoscenti are eschewing Twitter now but I prefer it to Facebook especially after a younger colleague showed me how you can find out who gets voted out on Strictly before the sunday show!

Pinterest seems painfully slow with lots of clicking and I haven't even signed up for Instagram as I'm not sure what it is about, which probably means I need to go and find out.

My rule of thumb is if it is bringing you more benefit and fun than effort crack on....! I will be looking at your twitterings tonight as I cant wait for the GBSB too and I'd forgotten about doing this during shows so thanks.

    1. Oooh now that's a good reason to be on Twitter! I don't know whether i'd want to find out the Strictly results early though, I'd have nothing to live for!
Tried to watch GBSB and tweet at the same time last night but was painfully slow. I may have to watch it again in peace! x

  4. You know, I'm not on facebook or twitter. Who's a dinosaur now? Ha, ha. I do dig Instagram though because it feels more visual due to the photos. If you join, do let us know.

  6. I welcome you to the 21st century even though I don't Tweet or Instagram! FB is alright for making connections outside of your blog. But sometimes it all gets to be too much. The blog, PR, FB, Pinterest. No wonder I stay away from the computer at the weekends.
